In the heart of former President Lai Ming-Chao, there was a deeper aspiration: that the Cambridge of the 20th century might gradually be recreated on the campus of National Cheng Kung University in the 21st century. He once said: Walking along the shores of Cheng Kung Lake under the phoenix flowers, is this not the same as Xu Zhimo’s Cambridge (the River Cam)?
